The 12th session of the Intellectual Property Counseling Center for Exporters concludes on October 14.
The Brest exporting enterprise, which produces siding with a wood color, became interested in the possibility of depositing information about the availability of a production secret (know-how) in terms of recipes for siding color used for lining the exterior surfaces of country houses, cottages and other residential structures.
The legal adviser of the siding manufacturer received comprehensive answers to clarifying questions on the set of documents required for deposition (a letter, application, copies of documents confirming the operation of the know-how protection system in the trade secret mode at the enterprise), on the issued or other supporting documents (certificate, publication on the website of Belpatentservice BelCCI, publication of bibliographic information in the BelCCI Merkury information bulletin).
The system of voluntary identification and deposit of results of intellectual activity and intellectual property objects provides for deposit of the following objects: computer programs, literary, script, architectural, scientific works, works of fine and decorative and applied art, other works, as well as know-how (production secrets). In this case, the secret of production itself is not disclosed, but the information about its availability to the business entity is deposited.
Deposit is an additional source of proof of ownership of rights to the results of intellectual activity and intellectual property objects, for which state registration is not provided for. Therefore, it is an effective element of the system of protection of rights to objects of copyright, results of intellectual activity and know-how.
Based on the results of the answers to the questions, the representative of the exporting company ordered the service of depositing information on know-how.
