On 26 April each year, the world celebrates International Intellectual Property Day, which is an opportunity to educate the general public about how intellectual property (IP) rights empower innovation and creativity.

The pitch session ‘MedicalStartup Alley’ within the framework of the International Medical Forum ‘Healthcare of Belarus - 2025’ presented more than 30 developments of the participants of startup competitions of Belarusian youth. The aim of the project is to promote promising ideas in the field of medicine.

The Grand Final of the 14th contest ‘100 Ideas for Belarus’ named 30 innovative projects as winners out of 155 projects selected among more than 1300 applications.

The owner of the trademark or the person who has been granted the right to use the trademark under an exclusive licence agreement may, at his option, demand from the person who has infringed the exclusive right to the trademark, instead of compensation for damages, the payment of compensation in the amount from one to fifty thousand basic units determined by the court taking into account the nature of the infringemet.

The abbreviation of a significant part of a company name in a combined trademark may turn out to be an unprotectable element.

The analysis of the legal protection of the business activities of the new members of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) through trademarks, conducted on the eve of the solemn certificate awarding ceremony, was partially communicated to the participants. This facilitated the identification, both during the event and the farewell coffee break, of individuals interested in registering their trade names as trademarks and service marks

The trademark application specifies the goods for which trademark registration is sought. The goods are classified according to the edition of the Nice Classification (NCL) in force as of the filing date and must be designated using precise terms (preferably NCL terms)

Registration as trademarks is prohibited for designations where the dominant position is occupied by signs and/or indications used to designate the place of production or distribution of goods.
Registration as trademarks is also prohibited for designations that are false or capable of misleading consumers regarding the goods, their place of origin, or their manufacturer.
