The eighth session of the intellectual property consulting center for exporters is held

It was held on June 22, 2021, online on our company's ZOOM platform.

Only one question was asked, although there were three visitors.

The question, which was posed by a representative of a clothing company, was as follows: "When sewing women's clothing, we use fabrics that we get from Turkey. The fabrics, after being processed in a Turkish factory, acquire a specific texture, which attracts our customers. Our technologists have tried to transfer the Turkish method of fabric processing to domestic fabrics so that we do not have to import fabrics from Turkey. What do we need to do to protect our production?"

The question posed allowed several aspects to be voiced in the answer.

The first one concerned the necessity to observe, and consequently to check the patent purity of the Belarusian production. Unauthorized use of the patents of others is fraught with lawsuits and fines.

The second aspect concerned the reproduction of foreign technology, which was justified for the development of our own technology.

If there are no valid patents in our country, it is possible, by studying the Turkish or other foreign patents of the Turkish manufacturer, not only to reproduce the Turkish technology of fabric processing, but also on the basis of it to develop and improve own. In this case, do not have to repeat the technological path already taken by a foreign company.

The third aspect concerned the possibility of circumventing the Turkish patents in our country by improving the Turkish technology by means of essential differences from it, which would allow the Belarusian products to become competitive in the market of fabrics for women's clothing.

Finally, the fourth aspect was devoted to the possibility of acquiring a license for the right to use the Turkish fabric processing technology before the expiration of the patents in our country.
