Participation in the regional seminar "Patent Law Treaty (PLT)"
On April 26, 2016 in the International Day of Intellectual Property the Acting Director of BelpatentService of the BelCCI, the patent attorney Vyacheslav Trofimov took part in the regional seminar "Patent Law Treaty (PLT)", organized in Minsk by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the National Center for Intellectual Property.
Representatives of patent offices of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Patent Office, as well as patent attorneys and specialists of higher educational and research institutions and enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, took an active part in the seminar. The seminar addressed topical issues in the field of application of the Patent Law Treaty.
The participants from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan - the PLT participating countries - shared their experience of implementing the above-mentioned agreement in the final round table. The Republic of Belarus is not yet a Contracting Party to the PLT, which was adopted under the auspices of WIPO in 2000 to harmonize and streamline the formal procedures applied to national and regional patent applications and patents. The Treaty provides the maximum lists of requirements that the Office of the Contracting Party may apply, with an important exception being the requirements for the filing date of the application. For the accession of our country to the Patent Law Treaty, work remains to be done to a large list of procedural aspects and problematic issues on the topic.
