From October 6 to 7, 2025, Minsk hosted an international forum dedicated to combating the illegal trafficking of industrial products, including protecting rights in the field of intellectual property.
The forum was organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission, the International Association "Anticounterfeit", the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus (SCST), and the National Center for Intellectual Property (NCIP).
The event was attended by approximately over 400 representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia, Russia, and Uzbekistan.
During the plenary session on October 6, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich stated in her speech: "Counterfeiting is not only a threat to bona fide manufacturers and rights holders but also a significant challenge for the state, the economy, business, and international cooperation. But more importantly, it’s a challenge for the safety of people… Our country is often reproached for preserving Soviet traditions. However, from those times, we have taken only the very best, including the highest quality of production - from food products to heavy machinery, pharmaceuticals, etc. Therefore, we are very protective of the names of our brands, we are very protective of our reputation. And in fact, the reputational costs that can be caused by counterfeiting are sometimes even higher than any tax costs or non-receipts."
In turn, Member of the Board (Minister) for Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Bakyt Sultanov, noted that in the EAEU countries, more than 53 million units of counterfeit products were identified between 2020 and 2024. In 2024 alone, the circulation of 6.6 million units of counterfeit goods was prevented, which is 15% more than the previous year. Clothing and footwear, household appliances and electronics, toys, haberdashery, auto parts, and perfumes and cosmetics remain the leaders in terms of the number of violations.

The forum included the V International Scientific and Practical Conference "Intellectual Property in the Modern World: Challenges of the Time and Prospects for Development".
In addition to the plenary session held on October 7, the agenda of the conference included the work of three sections:
Section 1. Modern trends and development of the market of IP results.
Section 2. Methodology and practice of managing rights to IP results: main challenges in the region.
Section 3. The multidimensionality of intellectual property issues in modern conditions.
