On September 10, 2025, a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) took place.

The 15th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) was chaired by Bakyt Sultanov, Minister for Economy and Financial Policy of the EEC.

Vyacheslav Trofimov, Director of UE “Belpatentservice” of the BelCCI, participated in the event.

According to the Minister, the volume of identified counterfeit goods in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to 6.6 million units. 1465 violations in the field of intellectual property (IP) were recorded. These data are reflected in the report on monitoring law enforcement practices in the field of protecting intellectual property rights in the EAEU countries for 2024. As presented in the report, the most frequently counterfeited goods are those in mass everyday demand: clothing and footwear, household appliances, auto parts, as well as perfumes and cosmetics.

During the meeting, the participants discussed key initiatives in the field of intellectual property within the EAEU: developing agreed approaches to suppressing violations on the Internet, creating a search service to verify industrial property objects.

Also in focus was the launch of a unified customs register of IP objects and the introduction of a system for registering trademarks and appellations of origin of goods in the EAEU.

In addition, the possibility of organizing electronic information exchange between customs authorities and rights holders and amending the Agreement on the Procedure for Managing Copyrights and Related Rights on a Collective Basis was considered.

For reference: The Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property under the Board of the EEC was established in 2012. Its members include heads, deputy heads of ministries and departments, and representatives of the business community of the EAEU states. The key task is to develop agreed solutions in the field of IP protection within the EAEU.
